red shoe 5 series

i had so much fun doing this series, “a girl and her red shoes”, i was all over the house and the yard armed with my digital camera and two pairs of red shoes. i liked the maryjane’s in the grass, i added the crescent moon and the star (my signature/my CHOP) with photoshop. i have always looked at these as self portraits, me, if i were a red shoe…..

this one is my favorite of the series, i also painted this image on the glass window in the backdoor to my house. adding the nimbus and airbrushing the chipped nail polish off of my big toe sure makes my foot look cute in my favorite red shoes. i found these red patten leather platforms at a thrift store, and i broke the strap shortly after i got them. luckily, armando (shoemaker) was able to replace the strap, but with white patten leather instead. i think it made the shoes even cooler. armando made a sign for earthDAY that year that read, “repair your shoes”….

and i drew this image for the cover of the red shoe booklet/questionnaire. i also printed these as a ATC (artist trading card) series.

when i did these, i was just getting started with photoshop, i was all about the “lens flare” and plastic wrap filter, it gave this image a celestial feel, it looked like space and stars on the black platform.

and i really liked the contrast of the smooth red shoe in the crisp green grass, accented edges filter does wonders for hiding the nar-nar chipped polish, and the heart with a lens flare in the bottom corner says it all.
